It took a day to catch your smile
A week to beat the miles
that you’ve trekked beyond the hill
It took a fortnight to glimpse your laugh
A month to cut in half
the distance you built around that path
where sunshine leaves the room, hushed
It took a quarter of a year to learn your name
Half a year to hold your hand
Another half and 5 days for you to call my name
When you forget, I will remember
I’ll greet your retreating back
And count until the 370th day
